General Information

Chester County, Pennsylvania is located about 30 miles west of Philadelphia and borders both the states of Delaware and Maryland.  Chester County is the 7th most populated county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the fastest growing.

Chester County Department of Emergency Services is located in the Chester County Government Services Center in West Goshen Township, and serves over 465,000 citizens in 73 municipalities.

The 9-1-1 Communications Center handles over 300,000 calls a year.  This is about 900 calls for assistance a day.

The Department administers and provides for emergency services communications; hazardous materials spill response; disaster planning; fire, rescue and emergency medical services training; Fire Marshal investigations; the Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization Act; and Public Education programs.
